Avengers: Infinity War has taken the world by storm over the past few weeks. As the biggest opening movie in the world (ever!), articles praising the superhero smash hit have buzzed across the internet and critics and fans alike won’t stop singing the praises of the epic Marvel installment. Although credit is certainly due to the actors, directors, and producers, this live-action movie wouldn’t contain nearly as much wow-factor without its stellar animation sequences, and the man primarily responsible for those sequences is a man named Jan Philip Cramer.
Cramer worked as the animation supervisor for Avengers: Infinity War, and has an impressive history when it comes to bringing superhero scenes to life; he has provided animation for movies such as the X-men series, Deadpool, and last year’s summer hit Spiderman: Homecoming. Cramer has stated that being an animator for superhero movies has been his dream since childhood and he looks forward to using his skills in future Marvel movies such as Captain Marvel and Antman and the Wasp.
Cramer credits much of his success as an animator to his education at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He graduated back in 2004 with a BFA and has since earned a prestigious Emerging Artist Alumni award from his alma mater. He is thankful for the well-rounded animation and art experience that his time at the Academy of Art University has given him.
Cramer isn’t the only graduate from the Academy of Art University to go on and accomplish great achievements, though. Many alumni of the school work on movies that go on to earn Golden Globes and Academy Awards. The school is proud to produce animators like Cramer, as well as graphic designers, producers, artists, and composers, thanks to their many degree programs available to both bachelor and master’s students.
As the largest accredited private art and design school in the United States, the Academy of Art University also provides lifelong learning for its students through a number of continuing education and professional development opportunities. That way, the students that go on to shine in their careers have a place to polish their skills and keep learning after graduation. Both the professional development and credit courses are taught by experienced instructors in various fields of art who use their expertise to foster a new generation of artists such as Cramer.
Students at the Academy of Art University call San Fransisco their home, along with its gorgeous architecture and diverse group of peers and mentors. This university is unique in that it focuses exactly on what its students wish to pursue: art. This art includes multiple forms, so whether you want a career in fashion, fine art, or animation, the Academy of Art University provides the highest quality education to take you there.
